Invite Past Customers to Submit Reviews

Overview


Many stores miss valuable feedback because automatic review request emails weren’t active when earlier orders were completed. With AfterShip Reviews, you can now also invite your past customers to submit reviews. This feature allows you to tap into your existing customer base and get more verified reviews from previous orders, helping you strengthen your store’s reputation and boost conversions.

How to find the invite past customers feature?


  1. Log in to your AfterShip Reviews admin account.
  2. Navigate to Review request emails > Email history.
  3. On the top-right, click the ‘Send emails manually’ drop-down.
  4. Select Invite past customers to submit reviews.



How to invite past customers to submit reviews?


Step 1: Choose the customer group to invite


You can filter and send review requests to past customers based on two criteria:


Option 1: By order delivery time


  • Target customers based on when their orders were delivered.
  • This requires AfterShip Tracking, as it uses delivery data.



Option 2: By order fulfillment time


  • Targets customers based on when their orders were fulfilled.
  • Works even without AfterShip Tracking.



Step 2: Choose when to send invitations



You can either send review requests immediately or schedule them for later.


1. Send now


  • AfterShip Reviews scans all past orders within your selected time frame.
  • Review request emails are sent automatically, one by one.


2. Schedule


  • Choose a future date (up to 7 days ahead).
  • Past orders in your selected time frame are scanned and added to the review request emails queue.



You can review scheduled review requests in the Reviews admin: Email history > Scheduled tab.


Additional considerations


  • After the emails are sent, customers will receive your review request email just like they would for a new order.
  • Once they submit their review, it will appear automatically in your AfterShip Reviews dashboard and be marked as verified.
  • These verified reviews show a verified badge on your store and sync to Google Shopping and TikTok Shop.

1. Will using Invite Past Customers use my review request email quota?


Yes, every email sent through ‘invite past customers’ counts toward your review request email quota.


Tip: Each order only uses one quota. Reminder emails for the same order won’t count again.


2. Are the reviews collected through the “Invite past customers” feature verified?


Yes, all reviews collected this way are automatically marked as verified. Verified reviews show a badge on your store and can sync to Google Shopping, TikTok Shop, and other platforms.


3. Why can’t some historical orders be invited?


AfterShip Reviews automatically skips any orders that meet your exclusion rules or have already received a review request to avoid spamming customers.
